The story of Professor Claus

With a twinkle in his eye, rosy cheeks, and a very convincing white beard, you might suspect that Professor Coats has a second identity. After all, Professor Claus and Santa have never been seen in the same room… and somehow Professor Coats tends to disappear each December.

But the story of Professor Claus didn’t begin at the North Pole.

It began with a grandfather.

When his first grandchild was born, something shifted. What started as a playful moment — putting on the red suit just once — became a calling. Not a performance. Not a costume. A role.

A responsibility.

Professor Claus was born out of the desire to create wonder, protect childhood magic, and remind families that joy is worth celebrating loudly.

Each year, Professor Claus is privileged to serve at places that feel like home — including Walter Hill Church of Christ, Kingwood Church of Christ, Middle Tennessee Christian School, and several other communities who have welcomed him into their Christmas traditions.

For Professor Claus, this isn’t about photos or fanfare.

    • It’s about kneeling down to hear a whispered wish.
    • It’s about reassuring a nervous toddler.
    • It’s about telling children they are seen, known, and loved.
    • It’s about keeping the story alive — not just the story of Santa, but the story of generosity, hope, and faith.

Some professors teach from textbooks.

Professor Claus teaches from the North Pole.

And every December, he is grateful — truly grateful — to put on the suit and serve.
